FAQ's

What is Wildcat Jr Football (WCJFA)?

The Wildcats Junior Football is a competitive, full-contact football organization dedicated to promoting safe and fair play. Proudly affiliated with the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association our program adheres to their rules and policies. WCJFA prioritizes player safety by employing the latest tackle techniques and guidelines.

Who can participate in WCJFA?

All 8-to-14-year-old youth who reside within the boundaries of the Snoqualmie Valley School District are eligible to participate in Wildcats Junior Football. Exceptions for football may be made for seven-year-olds if they weigh at least 60 pounds and meet certain GEJFA criteria. Players from outside Snoqualmie Valley School District boundaries are considered transfer players and must be granted permission from the presidents of both their club and the WCJFA to participate in Wildcats Junior Football.

What does it cost to play?

The football registration fee for the 2024 season is $550.

Two payment options are available:

  1. Payment in full
  2. $150 due at the time of registration with the remainder, split into three equal payments due monthly.

WCJFA wants to ensure that no player is turned away for financial reasons.  If you need financial assistance, please complete the 2024 scholarship request.  Any additional questions, please email registrar@wcjfa.org.

What does the registration fee include?

The club provides the primary equipment necessary to participate in football. This includes a helmet, shoulder pads, integrated practice/game pants, practice jersey, and home/away game jerseys, and mouthguard. This equipment must be returned in good condition at the end of the season. Football cleats are not included but are required. Football gloves are also recommended but not required.

Your registration fee plays a vital role in supporting the various expenses essential for the smooth operation of our program. These costs encompass practice and game field rentals, fees for officials, insurance, coaching equipment and training, safety education, and player development. In addition to registration fees, we depend on your participation through volunteering and fundraising efforts to fully cover all expenses linked to the program.

When does the season start and how long is it?

The season commences the week of August 5, 2024, and extends through mid-November. Games are every Saturday, starting as early as Labor Day weekend, and are hosted at high school fields across the Greater Eastside region. Regular season matches continue through late October. Playoff games start from late October to early November and may span up to three weeks, contingent on team standings and playoff eligibility.

When and where are practices?

Football practices take place at Centennial Fields Park, Sirius Sports Complex, and/or Mt. Si High School. Each practice lasts approximately 2 hours, usually scheduled from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, varying by level. The beginning of the season will be as follows:

  • Week of August 5th - Wednesday/Thursday
  • Week of August 12th - Monday-Friday
  • Week of August 19th - Monday-Friday
  • Week of August 26th - Tuesday-Thursday
  • September on - Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

While we strive to maintain consistent practice schedules across teams, occasional changes may occur due to factors like field availability, severe weather, or poor air quality, which are beyond our control.

When do the games begin and when will we know our schedule?

Games are scheduled for Saturdays, starting from September 7, 2024, at different times throughout the day. Game times may range from as early as 9 am to as late as 7 pm. Games will take place at various league fields across the Greater Eastside. For specific field locations, please refer to the GEJFA website. Each team is assured a minimum of 8 to 9 games in total, encompassing regular season matches, playoffs, and/or consolation games. Regular season schedules are released the week before the first game.

What team will my child be on?

Our organization offers football teams at five division levels: Rookie, Cub, Sophomore, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. Players' placement in these divisions is determined by an age/weight point system. You can refer to the GEJFA age/weight chart to determine the appropriate level for your child to play.

The primary determinant in forming teams at each level is the number of players registering each season. If there are enough registrations to support at least two teams per level, team compositions will be adjusted accordingly. Consequently, players may or may not remain on the same team each season; for instance, a player on the red team one season may find themselves on the white team the following year. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the club to ensure teams are balanced at each level following GEJFA regulations. Please see the registration page for team limit and split chart details.

Teams are initially rostered based on the order of registration. However, please be aware that registering does not guarantee a spot on a team. Registering early significantly enhances your chances of securing a roster spot. Once team capacities are reached, any additional registrants will be placed on a waitlist.

What are my obligations to the club as a parent?

WCJFA operates as a volunteer-driven non-profit organization. Volunteers at both the club and team levels play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and creating fantastic experiences for the kids participating in Football and Cheerleading. Each family is expected to contribute 4 hours of volunteer time during the season, which is monitored through our online tool, DIBS. Alternatively, families have the option to opt-out by paying an upfront fee of $250 per family.

Volunteer positions include but are not limited to:

  • Coach/Assistant Coach
  • Team Manager
  • Chain Gang (Away Games)
  • Game Announcer (Home Games)
  • Score Board Operator (Home Games)
  • Field Manager Assistant (Home Games)
  • Videographer
  • Photographer
  • Concessions
  • Board Member

Please visit the volunteer page for more information about each role or to complete a staff application.

How many practices must my player attend before playing in a game?

Practices are integral to the football experience, serving not only to enhance gameplay but also to prioritize safety. We urge families to make every effort to schedule vacations, camps, family outings, and other commitments around the practice/scrimmage/jamboree schedule. If a child misses practice, we prioritize their safety and that of their teammates. The Coach may decide to restrict their involvement in certain activities until they are confident it is safe for them to fully participate.

Players are not permitted to engage in collision contact activities until they have completed two (2) non-collision contact practices. Additionally, players must complete at minimum three tackle practices before being eligible to participate in a league game.
