FAQ

What is Jr Wildcat Cheerleading?

Junior Wildcats Cheerleading is part of the WCJFA. Our non-profit organization is 100% driven by volunteers and parents who are passionate about providing a great experience for boys and girls throughout the valley who are interested in football and cheer.

We welcome and encourage children of all abilities to join us in cheering and supporting our Wildcats Junior football teams. We strive to develop a good cheer foundation in skills, technique, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Who can participate in WCJFA?

All 7-to-14-year-old children who reside within the boundaries of the Snoqualmie Valley School District are eligible to participate in Wildcats Junior Cheer.

What does it cost to participate?

2024 cheer registration fee will vary depending on whether a new uniform will need to be ordered. $265 for cheerleaders who do not need to order a uniform. $550 is the fee for registration + uniform.

Two payment options are available:

  1. Payment in full
  2. $150 due at the time of registration with the remainder, split into three equal payments due monthly.

WCJFA wants to ensure that no player is turned away for financial reasons.  If you need financial assistance, please complete the 2024 scholarship request.  Any additional questions, please email registrar@wcjfa.org.

What does the registration fee include?

Cheer registration pays for facility rental, insurance, and safety training for coaches. The uniform fee includes a full cheer uniform with a bow, bag, and poms that cheerleaders keep at the end of the season. Participants on scholarship must return uniforms at the end of the season to make the program more sustainable and keep costs as low as possible.

When does the season start and how long is it?

The season commences in early August and extends through mid-November.

When and where are practices?

Cheer practice schedules will be dependent on the team. Practice is 90 minutes from either 5-6:30 or 6:30-8 pm. Summer practices begin August 12th with a potential rookies camp the week of August 5th.

  • Week of August 12th - Monday-Thursday
  • Week of August 19th - Monday-Thursday
  • Week of August 26th & On - Mon/Wed OR Tues/Thurs

Practice will likely be held outdoors at Centennial Fields in August and September. Indoor Practices begin the first week in October and will be held at an SVSD gym.

When do the games begin and when will we know our schedule?

We cheer for our WCJFA football players every Saturday, starting from September  7, 2024, at different times throughout the day. Game times may range from as early as 9 am to as late as 7 pm. Games will take place at various league fields across the Greater Eastside such as Eastlake, Bothell, Liberty, Bellevue, etc. When possible, we will cheer at home (MSHS) and will perform at halftime! The regular season schedules are released the week before the first football game.

What team will my child be on?

You will select your desired squad at registration based on practice time and age level. Please note that each squad has a maximum number of registrations. In the event that the squad you'd like is full, please select an alternative or waitlist the squad of your choice.

What are the key dates to remember?

  • Cheer Parent Meeting - April 3
  • Cheer Uniform Fitting - May 13-15
  • Snoqualmie Days Parade - August 17

What are my obligations to the club as a parent?

WCJFA operates as a volunteer-driven non-profit organization. Volunteers at both the club and team levels play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and creating fantastic experiences for the kids participating in Football and Cheerleading. Each family is expected to contribute 4 hours of volunteer time during the season, which is monitored through our online tool, DIBS. Alternatively, families have the option to opt-out by paying an upfront fee of $250 per family.

Volunteer positions include but are not limited to:

  • Coach/Assistant Coach
  • Team Manager
  • Videographer
  • Photographer
  • Concessions
  • Board Member

Please visit the volunteer page for more information about each role or to complete a staff application.

Can I make a charitable donation?

Absolutely! We function as a Washington nonprofit corporation with tax-exempt status under IRS section 501(c)(3). Contributions made to us are tax-deductible, and our nonprofit Tax ID is 26-1964186. The funds we receive through these programs will be allocated toward purchasing new equipment, maintaining facilities, and ensuring that league costs remain as affordable as possible.

You can contribute during registration or reach out to us at fundraising@wcjfa.org to donate. Please note, that numerous employers provide Corporate Matching Gifts programs to support local nonprofit organizations such as ours. In some cases, these grants can double or even triple the original donation made by the employee.
